Background
Orphans of the Storm is a 1921 American silent historical drama produced and directed by D. W. Griffith and released through United Artists, starring sisters Lillian and Dorothy Gish. Set during the French Revolution and adapted from the play 'The Two Orphans,' it was the last of Griffith's major large-scale spectacles and the final film to pair the Gish sisters. Published in 1921, the film print's 95-year US copyright term has expired, placing the photoplay in the public domain by term expiry.
