Background
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans is a 1927 American silent drama directed by F. W. Murnau for the Fox Film Corporation β a US studio production despite its German director β and a landmark of the medium, winning the one-time Academy Award for Unique and Artistic Production at the first Oscars. Published in 1927, the film print's US copyright term has expired, placing the photoplay in the public domain by term expiry. Later restorations and the Movietone sound-on-film score may carry their own separate rights.
